The transmission line design is performed using PLS-CADD based on EN, IEC or any other norm specified by the customer. Based on the available survey data, the followings products are provided.
Per project specifications, type of towers, line capacity, conductors, earth-wires, insulators and hardware selection is performed and engineering reports are developed based on the given selections.
Finite element analysis of steel lattice towers is done using PLS-Tower. The structural loads and load combinations acting on the tower structures are calculated per any given specification (e.g. EN 50341, IEC …). The loads can be obtained both by inhouse spreadsheets or PLS-CADD per client’s preference. The design of tower structures can be done per ASCE 10-15, Eurocode 3 or any other design specification. Both self-supported and guyed steel towers up to 700 kV can be designed. Detailed engineering reports verifying the member and connection capacities are prepared. Detailed stress analysis of critical components (e.g., insulator attachment points, cross-arm connections, splice connections etc.) with shell and solid element can be done upon client’s request. Structural optimization of towers having the least weight can be done for both shape and cross-section of the tower. Preparing 3D model, assembly and production drawings of these structures is done using Tekla. Detailing of transmission tower is a very special area and requires competent drafting power. T-design drafters have years of experience and they can detail tower structures within project deadlines with minimum or no revisions in the protypes.
Substations are critical components of the energy grid and T-design has significant expertise in load calculations and structural design of Steel Lattice Gantry Towers and Equipment Support Structures. The finite element analysis of the structures is performed using PLS-Tower or Sap2000 analysis software. In addition to static analysis, seismic design and dynamic analysis can be done per clients’ request. Preparing 3D model, assembly and production drawings of these structures is done using Tekla.
The foundation substructures of the transmission towers and substation structures plays a significant role in total project budget. T-design is here for you to design the optimum foundation structures. T-design employs the foundation experts that can design tower foundations in all aggressive soil conditions. Given the soil report, T-design can design and detail spread foundations, raft foundations, pile foundation and rock anchors. Finite element analysis is performed with Sap2000 or inhouse spread sheets. R/C design is conducted by in house spread sheets per ACI and Eurocode 2. The assembly drawing and production drawings are prepared in Tekla and Autocad.
T-design offer unique service to prepare site survey report for given transmission line. Our experts visit the site and makes the necessary GPS measurements. Then, site spotting of the towers can be performed.
T-design conducts feasibility study for transmission tower projects. Based on local construction practices logistics, design, manufacturing, and procurement, T-design evaluates the unit cost of the project and can itemize and detail it in a feasibility report.
